- What does the Scotts Damper Kit
include?
That includes everything you will need to
mount it on your motorcycle or quad. Most Off-road
kits include the stabilizer, handlebar bracket,
frame bracket, necessary mounting bolts, complete
step-by-step pictured instructions on how to mount
it and Owners Manual. Some models may require new
handlebars, if the crossbar is too low. We have a
full selection of handlebars available in those rare
cases. The road bike kit comes with the stabilizer,
triple clamp mount, new steering head nut (in most
cases) and the frame bracket. It also includes step
by step pictured instructions and all the necessary
mounting hardware. We also offer kits that include
the upper triple clamp and Oversize bars of your
choice at a substantial savings over the individual
prices.
-
Can I buy just the Stabilizer or just the
frame kit?
YES!! Every part of the kit, as well as
any and every part of the stabilizer is available to
purchase singularly. Should you ever have any
questions you can download technical information
from our website, including the stabilizer manual or
you can email us.
- What is a High Speed Valve Anyway?
Despite what you hear from our
competitors, there is an easy way to distinguish if
the steering stabilizer you own OR are interested in
owning, actually has a HIGH SPEED VALVE or not.
First off, does it have an adjuster knob to control
the high speed setting? Secondly, you simply turn
off any other valves or adjusters and see if the
stabilizer in question will still dampen sharp
spikes. The Scotts Performance Stabilizer has a
separate, completely integrated, adjustable
high-speed valve. NO OTHER STABILIZER on the current
market has an adjustable high-speed valve. You can
adjust the high-speed valve to accommodate whatever
it is you want the damper to absorb. For example,
let's say you're riding a tight Enduro, where you
want the damper to be on a very light setting,
allowing for quick and continuous turning without
having to fight the stabilizer. On a Scotts
stabilizer you simply turn the Base Valve control to
the softest setting that you feel is necessary for
the conditions. You have now simulated a bike
similar to one with no stabilizer at all. However,
The HIGH SPEED VALVE, because it is a separate
system on our stabilizer, will still gather in any
unforeseen quick hits, such as a rock or hidden tree
root in the leaves. The amount of energy absorbed,
and when it reacts, is adjustable by the rider.
Another example: You're a motocrosser who prefers "a
no damper feeling" while in the air, but wants the
advantages of the stabilizer while landing off big
jumps, or in pot holes, or rough whoop sections. The
Scotts Stabilizer will allow you to TURN OFF the
base valve, while retaining the function of the HIGH
SPEED VALVE, which achieves the scenario, explained
above. The High-Speed valve is made to absorb any
unwanted lateral movement that exceeds where you've
set the Base Valve set. Hence, our statement; "Our
stabilizer is infinitely adjustable to suit every
riders choices and specific needs, no compromises!"
Our competitors want you to believe they have a
high-speed valve because it's expensive to design,
to build and critical to the correct function of a
good stabilizer. Maybe that's why no one else has
one except Scotts Performance. Next time you hear
the smoke and mirrors created by our competitors
about having a high-speed valve, make them prove it.
Chances are you'll hear some more smoke and mirrors,
and no proof. The term "High Speed Valve" relates to
the speed of the spike trying to jar the bars loose,
it does necessarily relate to the speed the
motorcycle or vehicle is traveling. You could view
the high-speed valve as an added insurance policy.
If the item you hit is greater than the base valve
setting, the High speed valve recognizes that and
absorbs the unwanted energy that has over ridden
where you have the base valve.
- How often do I need to service the
Stabilizer?
We recommend you treat it as you would your
suspension. However, when mounted properly, there
are virtually no parts to wear out. An occasional
oil change is all that is needed. Each riders
demands will determine how often that oil change is
needed. If you're not sure, send it in to Scotts
Performance or we can handle it if you would like.

Used by muti-time "Isle of Man TT" winner John
Guinness, Ireland's Ryan Farquhar, BSB Team Padgetts
Honda, and BSB Team Hawk Kawasaki. Also used by
Australian Superbike Championship winning Joe Rocket
Honda with Adam Ferguson and Josh Brooks. You'll
find the new GPRV4 in the AMA paddock on the M4 Emgo
Suzuki Team, Team Roadracingworld.com, Corona Honda,
Hooters Suzuki, Grant Matsushima's MPT Suzuki, and
dozens of privateers. The list keeps growing every
season for a reason...it works! It does what a
steering damper is supposed to do.
This design is the evolution of the GPRV3 without
the remote adjustment and hoses. Racers wanted that
slim under-bar mount without the extras. We moved
the adjustment dial to the left side and created a
dial that was as small as possible, but still easy
to use. All machined from billet stock, anodized,
and laser engraved. Smaller, lighter, faster, it is
an instant hit with the pro off-road racers.
The GPRV2.
This is the evolution of taking our proven GPRV1
steering damper and locating it under the
handlebars. Mounting the damper unit under the bars
allows for addition room on the top cross-bar or bar
mounts. Depending on if you use a cross bar or not,
this area can accommodate a bar pad, GPS system or
additional lighting. This GPR setup is a good choice
for the weekend warrior to the race professional
that would like to raise the handlebar height.
Perfect for desert and off-road GP's.
The GPRV1, our original design.
Well, close to it. It retains approximately the same
shape as the original, but the internals and
adjustments, sensitivity, and sweep breaks have all
been fine-tuned over the years. The end result is a
steering damper that is very reliable, durable,
rebuildable, and, best of all, affordable. This
steering damper has won hundreds of racing
championships around the world and is available at
your local dealer.
